In this mountain village the issue was redevelopment of the station area. FDA has proposed a platform, which organizes continuous movement patterns. The roof has been formed according to visual links with orientation and touristy points in the village below and the mountains around the site. The platform's size and its different zones being part of continuous routes, allow it to become part of public life and to be occupied by temporary programs. At times of train traffic being low, wedding-ceremonies and community-dinners may be held underneath the roof. The supporting structure is of bamboo and the 3-dimensional wing-type surface has been clad with bamboo in such a way that it guides rainfall towards basins on the platform. Underneath cladding consists of semi-transparent corrugated plastic which once fully lit makes that the roof appears to float at times of fog, one of the characteristics of the location. |
