This northern Italian city is planning to extent the city centre into the large shunting-yard near central-station which is left abandoned. To reactivate the liberated site, local forces have been analysed to be transformed into a new urban intervention. A first mass-model was developed in such a way that coherence exists between the intensity of movement and the amount of possible orientation. GIS (Geographic Information System) software, which ran a script, assisted in the automation of this complex transformation. The mass-model is subsequently fine-tuned with further parameters such as accessibility and density. These parameters combined inform programmatic distributions that become highly diverse and articulated. Potential programmatic synergies and clusters of use can be integrated. |
